Why Summer Weekends Around Jacksonville Rarely Look the Same
June 26, 2025 | Read Time: 3 minutes
Summer weekends around Jacksonville rarely follow the same script. One can revolve around boats and fishing on the Intracoastal, while the next brings beachside art, live music, local film or a community gathering into the mix. For residents of Tributary, that variety creates plenty of reasons to explore Northeast Florida before returning to a quieter setting north of the city.
July 9–19: Kingfish Tournament Brings the Waterfront Into Focus
The 45th Annual Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament turns Jim King Park and the surrounding Intracoastal into one of the region’s largest summer gatherings on the water. More than 600 boats, major prizes, junior angler events, food, vendors and entertainment give the tournament an audience well beyond the competitors themselves.
July 19th: Jax Beach Arts Market
Local artists bring out the best in everything from woodwork and pottery to paintings and jewelry at the Jax Beach Arts Market. Hosted at Seawalk Pavillion from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., it’s family-friendly, pet-friendly, and the perfect place to snag something one-of-a-kind for your home. Or simply enjoy a breezy beachside stroll with a side of inspiration.
July 26th: Kilwins Ice Cream Run
What’s better than a summer run? One that ends with all-you-can-eat ice cream. The Kilwins Ice Cream Run at Beachwalk features a 5K and one-mile run/walk, plus sweet rewards at the finish line. Even better, proceeds support the Dream Big! Foundation, helping families facing financial challenges due to cancer.
August 1st: Sounds on Centre
On the first Friday of each month from April through October, Centre Street in downtown Fernandina Beach comes alive with free live music. From 6–8 PM, enjoy a mix of classic rock, blues, oldies—and yes, even a few friendly pirates ready for photos and laughs. The August 1 show is set to feature a high-energy set from local favorites Str8-up.
August 2nd – 3rd: LOL Jax Film Festival
Northeast Florida’s homegrown talent takes the spotlight at the LOL JAX Film Festival. This two-night event at Downtown Jacksonville’s WJCT Studios is a highlight reel of locally made comedy shorts, stand-up sets, and live music. Now in its ninth year, the festival champions creativity and laugh-out-loud moments with a dose of local flair.
August 16th – Tributary’s End of Summer Luau
Tributary residents will be saying goodbye to summer in style. This tropical-themed afternoon promises poolside fun with live music, festive treats, arts and crafts, and plenty of ways to soak up the community spirit—Hawaiian shirts encouraged. It’s just one of the many resident events put on by the community’s lifestyle team.
Tributary Keeps the Summer Going Between Regional Events
When the larger Northeast Florida calendar quiets down, residents still have plenty happening closer to home. The Lookout Amenity Center brings together a resort-style pool, fitness studio, pickleball and sports courts, playground space and gathering areas, while Tributary’s lifestyle program adds resident events throughout the year.
The community’s outdoor setting expands those options even further. Trails and green spaces make it easy to spend time outside, while the Pawsome Dog Park gives four-legged residents separate play areas and an obstacle course of their own.
